The Federal Reserve Bank has announced standardization of Cash Services across all Federal Reserve Districts. As their part in promoting operational efficiency, they have conducted a review of Operating Circular 2 which deals with the delivery of FedCash Services.
With the revision of the circular, it has set forth new standards and procedures that a financial institution must comply with to receive Cash Services. All financial institutions must place orders using the standard units effective November 1, 2009. The change does not affect ordering for the $1 denomination, which must still be ordered in full bundles, or ordering for the $50 and $100 denominations, which may still be ordered in full straps or full bundles.
This revision not only affects cash order, but depositing of cash, cash difference, mutilated currency and cash transportation, as well. For more details related to the revision, visit www.frbservices.org. Under Popular Content, click on Rules and Regulations, then select Operating Circulars and scroll down to "OC2" Cash Services.
